In our digital era, what are the social and cultural implications of technological progress? How does it impact our society, thinking, and human nature? What does it say about us and our culture? This survey course is an introduction to some of the pressing issues and longstanding concerns about the relationship between humans and machines. Topics to be
discussed include data science, media theory, transhumanism, and machines in cultural imagination. While exploring these areas, the course invites the students to think what it means to be human.
